The architectural vocabulary, coupled with the proportions of this project, reaffirm the residential character of the gerontology center

Construction of a 120 bedrooms nursing home for the elderly, in the Western suburbs of Paris.

This building's image is that of a quality residence carefully integrated within the site, reinforced by a sensible use of simple but well-chosen materials. It is respectful of the adjoining historic landmark, while employing an architectural style that's firmly contemporary.

Careful considerations have been taken to offer progressive experiences of perception, from the entrance into the communal spaces all the way to the bedroom. The first level of perception is that of modern equipment, reassuring and effective. The second level allows for a widening of space with proportions, nevertheless, reasonable considering that there are two households, each tied to a communal space that is prolonged by planted terrasses. This level of perception gives a more domestic sensation that makes the different functions of the building easy to grasp and makes getting around simple. The third level is felt from the inside, where the succession of varied spaces unfolds. The interior architecture employs asymmetrical and polychromatic designs, both logical and controlled, that aid orientation for the residents.

Oriented toward the South and well-lit, the communal living spaces make for a meeting place that mixes with great sensibility the through-spaces, partially two stories high, with the terrasses and suspended gardens.

The project relies on wood and stone for the living quarters, glass and color for the communal spaces. The use of mixed constructions principles with pillar, beams and load-bearing walls, will enable the necessary suppleness for a facility that will need room to evolve step by step.
