A gentle yet stimulating place for the weary minds
45 bedrooms, communal spaces.
A comfortable living space both peaceful and stimulating, the Alzheimer patient unit of the Vendôme Hospital Center (Centre hospitalier de Vendôme) houses mainly patients from rural backgrounds. A building with homogeneous architecture and a recognizable layout, it uses distinct colors and forms to allow those stricken with Alzheimer's disease to surmount their troubles with orientation and memory, and be able to access the different functional spaces. Priority was given to a distribution of the bedrooms around a central living space that includes a therapeutic vocational cooking center. From this focal point, the glass panes allow long traversing views, the patios create space, the living rooms with ceilings that extend to the second floor, together, create a clearly diversified and reassuring environment.
