Atlas of World Interior Design 11/2/10Double round of applause by Braun for the Lycée Louis-Armand in Eaubonne, designed by Ameller & Dubois for the Regional Council of Paris Area. Earlier this year, the German-Swiss publisher issued a compedium soberly baring the title Schools, and displaying the Lycée Louis-Armand among the best educationnal buildings of the world. This week, Braun issues its World Atlas of Interior Design. As Braun puts it : «a detailed and comprehensive portrayal of the best and newest interior projects from accross the globe . From the pragmatism of North America and the minimalism of Northern Europe to the regionalism of Asian design and lavish Mediterranean interiors, a global diversity of styles are on show ». The Lycée Louis-Armand appears to blend Northern Europe pragmatism with Mediterranean joie de vivre. Architects : Philippe Ameller and Jacques Dubois ; assistant architect : Renaud Djian.

Nursing Home In Versailles
Décideurs en gérontologie 9/12/09"Building a nursing home a few hundred meters from the Palace of Versailles imposed on the architects draconian guidelines. Two buildings had to be set within a site that necessarily has tight stylistic constraints but still adhere to the regulatory norms regarding sanitation and other technical aspects of building. The positive side of things is that the demand for quality—particularly when it came to materials used—justified the spending that’s reflected in the use of stone for the facade, copper for the rooftops, and cobblestone for the surrounding pavement. But the concessions to past history end there. For the rest, the building wields an air of elegance strictly contemporary. Concealed from the nearby Boulevard de la Reine, it reveals itself to the visitor as if placed on a glass base. Its ninety bedrooms have been grouped into the top three stories surrounding the common spaces, while the management is concentrated in the ground level and the technical equipment lies hidden underneath the roof. “The natural light became a fundamental element of the interior organization,” say architects Ameller and Dubois. And, without a doubt, it’s one of the comforting elements felt by both the staff and the residents as they work and live in this building."

Paris 2000, Featuring Ameller & Dubois
The Monacelli Press 7/24/08Sam Lubell compiles just over 30 projects completed in the City of Light since 2000. In what is considered by many to be Europe's most beautiful big city, a work of art in many ways, contemporary architecture stands out more than many other cities. But since Mitterrand's Grand Projets at the end of last century, the city's new buildings do not receive the attention of other European urban centers. The projects here certainly illustrate that this is changing, as buildings like Francis Soler's Ministry of Culture, Jean Nouvel's Musée du Quai Branly, or Philippe Ameller and Jacques Dubois' ISIPCA attest.

(...) L'insonorisation des salles est impressionnante. (...) C'est globalement très réussi."
